About GVO
GOD
Creator, Owner
VERY
In a high degree, Exceptionally, Outstandingly, Significantly
OWN
Used with a possessive to emphasize that someone or something belongs or relates to the person mentioned.
Origin of GVO
“But you are not like that, for you are a chosen person. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.” – 1 Peter 2:9 NLT
God’s Very Own isn’t just a name. It’s an identity that I hope we could all take on as God’s children. My hope is that you will realize that someone claims YOU and not just anyone but the creator of the world claims YOU as His. In knowing this very truth, you would begin to walk confidently towards being the person who you were designed to be fully. It’s time to remove all the fog in our eyes and trade in our broken lenses for His. It’s time you started seeing yourself the way God does.
Purpose
To restore people’s true Identity (nature) in Christ.
Vision
To help people see themselves through the eyes (lenses) of God.
Mission
To detach people from any distorted thoughts that limit them from being the person God designed them to be.
We often hear people say that what you think is what you do and what you constantly do will shape who you become. In the book of Proverbs we also see it stated that “as a man thinketh so is He.” But we know that our thoughts are ever changing, however our identity in Christ is ever constant. What if we allow WHO WE ARE to instruct HOW we think which then instructs HOW we act and we would then move from THINK-DO-BE to BE-THINK-DO. This can only take place if we truly understand that we are made in the IMAGE and LIKENESS of God and this is a truth that will never fade or change.
Core Values
Lead with LOVE.
Love is and should be at the core of everything we do. After all we came from love and therefore as our identity is restored to Christ, not only will we know love at its purest form but we will also know how to love others well.
Live in HONOR.
Dany Silk says in his book Culture Of Honor “Every person you encounter is one who Christ has honored in His life, through death and resurrection.” The truth is that everyone is an image bearer (we all bear the image of God) and this truth alone should inform how we see and interact with each other.
